Is Sufism the only hope for Muslims?

When I heard the news of Barcelona attack, I remembered this documentary on Sufi music, which was produced a decade ago by CH 4 of the United Kingdom.

After I re-watched the documentary, I could not but think of the Sufi Muslims who made a prayer to Virgin Mary in a Church in Northern Syria with Christians, or those hilarious Sufi believers chanting god's name (Vika) times and again in a Mosque at a alley of Aleppo. What happened to them a decade after this documentary was produced?

Do the people and the church in Syria still physically exist after the group of psychopaths, who called themselves "Islamic State", destroyed whatever good in our civilization under the name of their "god"? I do hope that they've survived, because I still believe, as this documentary suggested tacitly, that Sufi and their music is the only hope for Muslims to become a part of our "civilized" world.
